Night 6 of the new NHL season - another inexplicably light night on the schedule - 2 games - luckily the Rays made a game 5 happen and just tied it up in the 3rd - the early nhl game has colorado at detroit - tough game for the avalanche after playing in philly last night - but theyre staying alive with a goal in the last minute of the second period to close the gap to 3-2 -

charlie manuel says he hasnt decided on a game 1 starter for the nlcs yet - wonder who he's trying to fool - or maybe blanton would be a better choice than halladay -

these little previews for the t.ocho show on versus make me happy its not available in canada - their second clip of the night featured them talking about god knows what, then getting cut off before they finished - reminded me of an snl skit - but somehow worse - thats not easy -

ryan wilson getting top quality minutes so far this year for the avalanche - avs score 3-3 -looks good but not generating offense on the power play yet - despite constantly jumping into the slot - if he stays on the 1st pp unit all year he could be a point producer - depending on how long it takes for shattenkirk to prove he's ready -

avalanches relentless work keeping them in the game but detroits poise is astounding as they score SH to go up 4- 3 - patrick eaves - but the avs dont stop and tie it up again - theyre a fun team to watch - too bad about muellers concussion -

franzen off the crossbar in the shootout and budaj turns around and thanks it - nice - then modano off the crossbar - david jones breaks his stick on a wrist shot - never seen that before - and colorado wins with the only shootout goal by yip in the 6th round - good game -

so far this season its safe to say if you can beat detroit or chicago youre doing something right - and colorado has beaten both - and had a chance at beating philly if not for a misstep by anderson with 2 minutes remaining - 3 teams that look great early on - the avs arent in their league yet - but can really bring the effort - with skill -
